Barry and I have been working for many years to create a free service that really helps small farmers connect with their buyers.
Our experience with Agruity has taught us it has to be simple and free, and suitable for both individual buyers and restaraunt buyers. Every small farmer should maintain a fresh sheet that is available to their buyers, but few do, simply because it's a lot of work.
I am a chef and the publisher of Edible Tulsa. I've talked to thousands of farmers, chefs, and consumers about local food buying.
Telling their stories has given me a deeper understanding of what's wrong.
The customers and vendors will benefit from putting all the information in one place, and putting more products in front of more buyers!
Before we started Fresh Sheet, I was an organic farmer, and I wished I had something like this. So we buckled down and built it :)
There are plenty of 'apps' out there that sell 'local' food, but none that connect the buyer and the seller directly. We don't need more peddlers, we need more sales.
I think more people will buy direct from the farm when it's easy and free.
